Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil Gibran - tikrasis vardas Džubranas Chalilis Džubranas (1883 - 1931) rašytojas, mistikas bei vienas skaitomiausių pasaulyje arabų iš Libano.

1895 m. Džubrano šeima nusprendžia persikelti gyventi į JAV, Bostoną, būtent ten, užsiregistruojant įsivelia klaida ir vaikinas užregistruojamas Kahlil Gibran vardu. Amerikoje jaunuolis pradėjo lankyti meno mokyklą, o po kurio laiko nusprendė grįžti į Libaną ir savo šalyje mokytis literatūros. Rašytojas buvo itin vertinamas Amerikos sirų bendruomenėje už savo poeziją, kuriamus apsakymus bei tautines idėjas.

Kai Amerikoje pasirodė jo knyga "Pranašas" kritikai ją ignoravo ir vadino ją tiesiog "paistalais". Bet faktai kalba patys už save: pirmuoju leidimu JAV šios knygos buvo parduota 9 mln. egzempliorių, o vėliau kūrinys išverstas į daugiau nei 40 kalbų. Šio autoriaus kūryboje gausu metaforų, simbolizmo, dvasinių ieškojimų bei meilės.
