Baffled by Love features true stories of compelling and complex people. The reader will come to know Kristy, whose father was an unwelcome visitor to her bedroom while her mother turned a deaf ear; Wendy, who lived in a house with 15 other children, where neglect and violence were ordinary; and Jessica, who was brought by her father to “the house” where men paid to have sex with girls.

As adults these women hadn't a clue about this thing we call love. How could they? They come to therapy wanting to find a kind of love that enhances life.

Their stories do not resolve easily. The hero is not the gifted therapist, nor the fearless client. Rather it is the relationship we forge, one that is so radically different from the toxic relationships my clients have previously known.
