Description

Essay from the year 2020 in the subject Communications - Movies and Television, grade: A+, , language: English, abstract: The movie "Wings" presents a war veteran who is unable to adjust to her post-military life. She appears to be displaying symptoms of PTSD and depression which are shown through her constant flashbacks and instrusive thoughts, dissociation, emotional detachment from others, indecisiveness, depersonalization, as well as her suicide at the end of the film. Nadia's constant traumatic memories and her impaired ability to form and maintain interpersonal relationships prevents her from getting the social support that she needs to improve her mental health. It depicts the reality of war and its negative psychological effects which never would have been permitted on screen during Stalinist times.
