If bent on becoming a Protestant, he had best find out just what it was he was set to protest. His quest for knowledge increasingly strengthened and emboldened his commitment to the Church, her sacraments and rituals. He gradually discovered, largely through his ardent love for his wife, that it was not a question of What to believe but of Who. "As it turns out, there was nothing doctrinally that I needed to understand better, but rather the understanding was a penetration of the mystery of a Person." Love did not prove his increasing knowledge, but increasingly affirmed it. "I now know that I'm still Catholic because I am in a love-relation that cannot find satisfaction outside of the Body of the Person who first loved me."
