This book gives accounts of the events which occurred primarily from October, 1863 - January 1864 in East Tennessee including Campbell's Station, Bean's Station, Mossy Creek, Dandridge and Fair Garden.Reports put the number of Confederate Troops involved at 20,000 and the Union Troops at 12,000.The number of casualties in the battles around Knoxville will never be known. The total Union loss reported was killed 92, wounded 394, captured or missing, 207 = 693. The total Confederate loss (minus the Cavalry, not reported) was 182 killed, 768 wounded, and 192 captured or missing = 1142. The loss in the cavalry is estimated at 250.
