Stephen Manthey passed away on August 19th, 2018. Stephen Manthey served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969 in the first platoon in the US Army Company D, 16th Armor, 17th Cav, 173rd Airborne Brigade (The Herd). Stephen's Company consisted of three platoons of Armored Personnel Carriers, (APCs) or (Tracks). He was a driver on track one-seven and operated the 50-caliber machine gun on the left side of the track. While serving in Vietnam, Stephen earned a Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, an Army Accommodation Medal, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Four Bronze Service Stars. He was a lifetime member of The Sky Soldier 173rd Provisional Tank Company Society of the 173rd Airborne Brigade.

These stories were written by a combat veteran who had struggles with PTSD in his life after serving his country in Vietnam. The intent of this book is to join the journey that Stephen Manthey went on to try to find answers that One Year, One Month, and One Day had on his life. By sharing Stephen's stories about Vietnam and its effects on his life, his son, Brian Manthey, hopes that it will help other veterans with their journey.
