A Hilarious Romp Through Retirement! Why do gay men retire to Palm Springs? Because it's a great place to live and a fabulous place to die. When Brian and Stéphane retired and moved to Palm Springs, California, they never expected their lives to be turned upside down. They expected a quiet, peaceful retirement. But God had other plans. Instead of sunny days lounging by the pool, the aging couple discovered glory holes, nonagenarian cross-dressing neighbors, a lost pussy, an S&M-themed Thai restaurant, owl-collecting lesbians, nuns, a sad-looking anal chrysanthemum, Carol Channing, murder, and annoying mallards ... mostly annoying mallards. Twilight Manors in Palm Springs, God's Waiting Room, is a hysterical, laugh-out-loud romp. It follows the adventures of Brian, Stéphane, their friends and neighbors through a series of bizarre events that could only happen in Palm Springs, God's Waiting Room.

Praise for Twilight Manors in Palm Springs God's Waiting Room

"St Sukie de la Croix seems to follow the footsteps of the nice English tradition of humorous books set in small villages or small social circles such as P.G. Wodehouse's 'Jeeves' series or E.F. Benson's 'Mapp and Lucia' collection of novels...The book was a hoot. I surprised myself chuckling almost throughout the novel, sometimes laughing out loud, it was so funny. Of course, de la Croix's verve and colorful, often naughty, sometimes outright evil wit were perfectly up my lane, and if in the beginning I was wondering what kind of weird relationship Stéphane and Brian had where you couldn't feel any sparks, romantic feelings, or even love, I soon remembered the British TV show I mentioned in the first paragraph, and that's when I started to genuinely enjoy the read. It was comical and entertaining, and the characters' comments often almost shockingly to the point-you know, the sort of things you might think, but when you catch yourself saying them out loud, you get beet-red and slap a hand over your mouth."
