Description

In the early hours of 8th August 1963, one of the most iconic events of the 20th century took place a couple of miles south of Leighton Buzzard, Buckinghamshire, England. The robbery of a mail train that night was destined to forever be shrouded in controversy and for the most part, those involved all paid a heavy price. Some fifty years later it was revealed that at least three of the gang who carried out the robbery were never identified. There were many others prior and after the event that had a connection, although they were not always aware of it; a friend from the childhood neighbourhood, an acquaintance, a friend of a friend, a partner in crime. Some links were tenuous, others not so. Johnny grew up amongst the bomb-sites of post-war London. His hankering for a better quality of life resulted in his involvement in nefarious activities that led to that night in August 1963, and it would determine the rest of his life.
