As the daughter of an Afro-Brazilian father and a White American mother, Selena Texeira knows what it's like to be different, even in diverse Salvador City, Brazil. At the Federal University of Bahia, Selena meets the lovely Jamila Ahmed, a Hijab-wearing young Muslim woman of Somali descent originally from the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The two of them fall in love but things are quite dicey. Selena's parents Caesar and Elisabeth Texeira are totally accepting of their favorite outspoken tomboy.
