Description

Wanted by the law and haunted by memories of a brutal childhood, Jeremy Tate hopped a freight train with no destination in mind other than getting out of Texas. When he was finally kicked off the train just outside of Atlanta, he was tired, dirty, nearly broke, and friendless. With no direction to go other than up, his fortunes changed when he met Beaudry Brown, an elderly man with a kind heart who lived in the basement of an abandoned building. Jeremy moved in with him on a temporary basis, and an unlikely friendship developed between the two men. Beaudry had no income other than the money he made by selling a fine home-made beer "to the fellas," and Jeremy saw an opportunity to make more beer and sell it in other areas. He did just that and soon had enough money to move on and set up his own operation. He was ready to go, but when Beaudry's health began to fail, Jeremy had a choice to make: pack up and go, or stay to help the man who had taken him in when no one else would.
