Description

There are so many great things to say about this collection! This book is meant to be read by students, teachers, those who love mathematics, those that don't, and everyone in between.

The way this captures the joy and wonder of children, nature, and what it means to belong, gave me a great sense of hope. It's becoming increasingly important that we make connections across disciplines. We can no longer teach subjects in disconnected silos, as it then becomes meaningless to students. I think this would be a great resource for teachers to have students read and discuss and play around with these ideas-not to mention using them as a springboard for experimenting with poems of their own.

I love to see the reactions when students first learn there are different sizes of infinity. There's disbelief, confusion, and curiosity all rolled together. Several themes running through the pages have really captured the wonder, awe, and beauty of mathematics and the strange shape of the universe that math tries to describe.

The poet touches on so many areas of mathematics, from elementary operations to set theory and topology, even turning zero inside out, but somehow that only scratches the surface. This little book with its playful spirit will have a huge impact on how the readers think about teaching and learning about subjects far beyond math or poetry.

Regardless of one's background in poetry or math, your mind and creativity will find fresh energy from reading this collection.
