Description

In an effort to save their youngster from the Mighty Spirit of the Jungle, owl's parents beg the Spirit to spare the most beautiful baby from an annual sacrifice. With every intention to oblige, the Spirit decides to eat the youngster that to him looks ugliest, with sad consequences. While dramatic and tragic this folktale forces alternative perspective-taking. It teaches children the intrinsic value of objective description in communication, as well as the potential pitfalls of vanity. Several versions exist and some are titled differently, but this one is the tale I remember listening to while growing up in Argentina.
