I love quizzes. Don't win very many but I love them nevertheless. There is something very rewarding in the act of trawling through the inner recesses of one's mind to find that obscure fact or dipping into the dusty mental library that houses ancient school lessons. It is probably genetic. My grandfather, Victor Lloyd, loved quizzes and crossword puzzles and published many fine quiz books in the original Pillar Publishing Dublin in the 1930s and 40s. Now that I have created Pillar International Publishing, I have sought to pay tribute to Granda Lloyd's enterprise with this small series of books. In this particular book I have brought together some of questions to challenge the cleverest of kids. The format of the book is 5 quizzes of 10 rounds of 10 questions, so that the reader can pick and choose rounds to form the basis of a quiz organised for your club, school, or charity. I have also included 50 bonus tie-breaker questions. The questions vary in difficulty from easy to not so easy, but I have stayed away from questions that are overly difficult to allow for a greater overall feeling of inclusion, competition and entertainment. The questions have been set, I hope, without any bias towards one country's culture. They can, therefore, be enjoyed anywhere in the quiz world. Enjoy! Mark.
