It is also contrasted with vaguer feelings whose cause we attributed to ourselves or to impersonal objects: such as the joy occasioned by fine weather or excellent health, the boredom resultant from a steady downpour of rain or from bodily infirmity, etc. My book came into being because of the need I felt to coordinate a series of experiences.
