Description

Father Martin Cléophas, a dedicated Salesian and committed to the cause of youth, has chosen to undertake and present a reflection on sport around the Salesian Games in Lubumbashi, which he calls "The Lushois Olympic Games". He goes back over the history of these games and offers the reader a chronological overview of their evolution. Through this book, one can appreciate being in contact with the origins of the Salesian Games by listening directly to one or other of their initiators and discovering, through some testimonies of recent participants. One can also find in this book, among the few of its kind, a well-documented reflection on sport as a place of education and even self-education. Likewise, this young Congolese Salesian priest evokes the conditions for success and excellence: sport in general, and Salesian games in particular, must not be limited to being consumer products, but, through effort and discipline, they must be places for the emergence of a renewed humanity.
