Lossing's illustrations of the people and places of the War are included. Benson J Lossing (1813-1891) was a well known American Historian of the time. He is best known for his illustrated books on the American Revolution and the American Civil war. This book is based on a series of articles that were originally published from May 1863 to January 1865.
