Reggie Bernard who followed in the footsteps of his father as a doctor in a major medical center, also Frances Williams his girlfriend and childhood sweetheart with a successful career in an advertising firm, and finally Ken O'Brian, his best friend from childhood. When Ken lost his brother in a car accident he reverted to a passive roll and never did completely adjust to society. In their search for the King and Queen they are transported through multiple dimensions, adapting to the unique conditions and interacting with the inhabitants of the different dimensions.
