Peter has never confessed he's loved Anna since he was fourteen, but being German makes it impossible. Officer Holtz, a loyal repeat customer, befriends Peter. When Anna is caught outside the bakery wanting one last look at home, Peter must decide where his life and loyalty lies, with Officer Holtz and Germany or Anna. Joseph Feiner is destined to die in ashes in the death camps but convinces the Nazi's he can make beautiful jewelry for their loved ones. He's filled with remorse when he learns what he is to use to make it with, but if it will lead him back to Anna, he'll do it.
