This research addressed the theme Evaluation of the national policy for the teaching of the Portuguese Language and its implications in the practice of the teacher of the 4th grade/year of Primary Education, in Macapá/AP, from which derived the question: what are the influences of Prova Brasil, in the practice of the teacher of 4th grade/year, of public schools of Primary Education, in Macapá/AP? The objectives were to analyze the policy of teaching Portuguese Language, in Brazil, in the last four decades, and its influence on teachers' practice, in addition to addressing the logic present in the external evaluation to the school, analyzing the theoretical assumptions underlying the Laws 5.692/71 and 9.394/96, as well as the National Curriculum Parameters. In the methodology, it was adopted the Content Analysis supported by the research instrument semi-structured interview, applied both to the two selected Portuguese Language teachers, as well as to the twelve students.
