Though a work of mostly fiction, the story is intentionally based upon sound principles of Poultry keeping and is intended to educate the beginning poultry keeper about what is required to make a success of breeding and managing laying hens in a manner that differed from typical poultry books. Following the entertaining story of Ned Campbell and his laying hens is an analysis explaining the critical portions of the story and how the reader can apply them to his or her own poultry keeping endevours.
