A Negro boy tended the fires, a Negro girl was ready at beck and call for errands; and during the evening could be heard back in the kitchen and long dining-hall, the scraping of the fiddle and the shuffling of feet, with bursts of laughter and railery, where the servants, all of one hue, were making merry.
