There Timothy meets Joseph Green, the history teacher along with his son Danny and Norman the science teacher, and together they discover that the time portal links the village with a future world on the other side of the galaxy, thus spreading the sleeping virus, and trapping people in the wrong time. Along with the mysterious Lord Mankell, they unlock the mystery of the 3 bells tower - find the 3 keys - close the portal and save the two worlds from extinction. When Joseph and Timothy hear the Belfry bells ring. Norman and Daniel, unbeknown to them, are transported back to the time of the three bells. 1700.There, they discover that the Abbey is home to an alien race called the Adjacents. (Humanlike in appearance)
They have come from another part of the universe - traveling, almost instantly, along a geometrical line that forms two adjacent triangles. One triangle representing their World. The adjacent triangle representing the Earth. Using three space portals, they can travel incognita in the three different times 1700 1850 and our Present day. This is done with the help of Lord Mankel and other humans.
Alas, these civilized travelers have brought a sleeping virus with them. Their natural sleep pattern is Hexadown slumber, and humans become affected (shown through Wilhelmina). Sadly, they are affected by the human sleep pattern of one single night.
This shortens their life span.
In order to save both worlds, three human keys are needed to close the portals for good. Our heroes undergo this weird adventure and - with a few little twists in the plot - they finally accomplish the task.
