The Eglinton Tournament of late August 1839 was a reenactment of a medieval joust and revel held in North Ayrshire. I had taken that tournament as my backdrop.
Someone has plans to make it a spectacle to remember. Prince Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte will be there, and the Queen wants her agents in place as it has been rumoured that King Louis Philippe of France would like to rid himself of this particular thorn in his side. Lissa, Miles and their friends are to ensure the Prince is not killed while on British soil.
However, members of the 88th Regiment of Foot, who were used as assassins in France and became known as the Devil's Own, were also in attendance to seek revenge. Assassination is their speciality. Have they been sent to kill the Prince?
Lissa and the ladies attend with their men to ferret out the assassin and protect the Prince... and Magda.
