Can we create a world with no depression?
In 2328, they did. They call it The Audric Experiment - bracelet-shocks, mind-altering dreams, serotonin-boosts. This is Audric. The question Pierre Morena has is whether or not he wants to be part of it.
Pierre is the only seventeen year old in Brighton, England, who has never been shocked by his bracelet. When he wakes up in a hospital bed with no memory of why, he knows he's going to have to figure some things out.
He'll find the help of a girl who's eyes are etched in his mind, a man in a Harley-Davidson leather jacket who wants him to help market a new hair gel, and realize he's part of something that may extend all the way to John Edgar Toll, the mayor of Brighton who wants Pierre on his team.
After the head of security kills Pierre's therapist, Pierre is thrust into being an outlaw. With three friends to help he'll have to find his freedom and uncover secrets that are a close to him as his own family. Pierre has been told he threatens the Zero Proposition - a statement that says that if one derives happiness from serotonin boosts, one still goes to Heaven.
Because Pierre has a big secret. One even he doesn't know.
