Description

David and Eleanor have been called home from holiday because Eleanor's father who had disowned her was critically ill and was now calling for her. Eleanor's initial reaction to this message was to say she would not go, but David persuaded her that she should. The journey home was traumatic, with a taxi being sent to collect them from the airport and rush them to the hospital, and with Eleanor still uncertain whether she would reach her father in time. He was alive, but then Eleanor reminded him that she was not alone; that she had a husband. For the first time, Len seemed to acknowledge this, and he told David he was sorry. Now David has to face his own feelings towards his father-in-law, especially as it was he who persuaded Eleanor that she had to return home! At the same time and due to the stress of the journey home Eleanor's ability to feed the twins now diminishes for a while, which then leads onto other complications. When things finally seem to be settling down, David is summoned to see his headmaster and is told to go home. An accusation that every teacher dreads had been made. Is it a case of guilty until proven innocent?
