Description

In the civilian tactical environment, seconds count. TECC: Tactical Emergency Casualty Care, Second Edition trains EMS practitioners of all levels how to safely respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment, including active shootings. This program is designed to decrease preventable deaths in the field.

Developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and endorsed by the American College of Surgeons, TECC, Second Edition reflects current, medical knowledge and practice, and promotes critical-thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. The content in the updated TECC course meets the current Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) Competency Domains and is consistent with the Committee on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (Co-TECC) guidelines.

The second edition of the TECC course features:

-The new course manual, which reinforces and clarifies key concepts from the course; features an engaging, interactive design; and is written so you feel like you are participating in a conversation, versus listening to a lecture.
-Lessons covering each component of the MARCH assessment, immediate action drills for tourniquet application, pediatric casualty care discussions, and all-new patient simulations, including a final mass-casualty, active shooter event simulation.
-The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) nomenclature of Hot, Warm, and Cold Zones has been integrated with tactical nomenclature of Direct Threat, Indirect Threat, and Evacuation Phases.
Students who successfully complete the TECC course will earn 16 hours of CAPCE-approved credit.
