Although the details of the deaths were vague, it was said they died of natural causes. Gleaning what he could from gossip, rumor, and innuendo, Flint set about writing The Frozen Dozen. It was published in 2002 and four of the stories were produced on stage in several off-Broadway productions. Flint also spent two weeks aboard the Queen Elizabeth, a newer, more modern version of cruise ships, departing from Southampton, England, for a cruise of the Baltic Sea. He was inspired by the enchanting beauty of Stockholm, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Tallinn, Kiel, and St. Petersburg-and also by the wide array of characters he encountered. The stories born from these experiences are witty, entertaining, and infused with rich character, proving that Alexander Flint is indeed a master of the short story genre.
