After a few jobs, the author describes his experiences in academia; specifically at George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia. During his stint at George Mason University, the author served in numerous capacities at the university, concluding with the observatory director. The author's life was then focused on his brother, who fought a losing battle with metastasized malignant melanoma. Life's lessons are highlighted in the author's review of his family's life and times.
