Description

"Marshall writes with insight and humanity." Thomas Waugh

Jemima Gregory wants a good man to come into her life. Living with her father Alex in a Cornish seaside town and coming to terms with a family tragedy, she yearns for a normal life and someone to love.

Gil Hunt has saved a man from drowning. Every summer he rents a studio overlooking the bay from Cecily, who owns the café below. He spends his evenings at the pier bar or at beach parties with his friends. Every summer is relaxed and hedonistic and exactly the same - which is just the way Gil likes it.

But this year, Cecily seems subdued and hankering after change for reasons she cannot or will not explain. Gil, aware of her restlessness, is distracted by Jemima.

As Cecily spirals away from him and Jem draws him ever closer, Gil becomes entangled in a web of other people's secrets, lies and the shocking connection between them all - which will end in murder.

How good a man is Gil?

Recommended for fans of Angela Marsons, Paula Hawkins and Mark Edwards.
