Spying in America presents over thirty cases of espionage on American soil from the Revolution to the beginning of the Cold War. Through these stories, the book illustrates the common threads in the spy cases, the evolution of American awareness about espionage, and the fitful development of American counterespionage leading up to the Cold War. The book differs from many other studies of espionage since it is written from the unique perspective of a career intelligence officer.
