Description

Songs Without Music I wrote these words in the Summer of 2015, alone on a beach in Formentera. They came in a rush. My wife Sara had died suddenly and much too young, 18 months before. This is a short book, but I hope that readers may gain an understanding of what it is like to lose the one person who is at the very heart of everything in their life. The hole it leaves is like a vacuum, devouring everything with light and leaving only darkness. It takes time to start to see light again. Eventually, you hope that the light will bring life back. The songs are laid out in the order they came into my head. The first ones were angry and dark, but as I went on, they became lighter and increasingly free. These words were written as songs, rather than poems; I have just not managed yet to write the right music to accompany them. I am sure it will come. Until then, these remain Songs Without Music.
