Description

Sign of the Seed begins with the Templeton Police Department in the midst of its annual Christmas robbery season. During his patrol duties, veteran Officer Jeramy Doodeman witnesses numerous situations which demonstrate other people's faith through signs of the seeds of faith. The investigation of a series of robberies comes to a dramatic climax at the very same time Officer Jeramy Doodeman is confronting his faith in God.

Among other characters, Detective Derek Wilson is a policeman who, oddly enough, is uncomfortable with confrontation and has his lack of confidence and bravery put to the ultimate test. Meanwhile, Officer Teresa O'Brian, a sassy Irish policewoman, is frustrated with the juvenile antics of some fellow officers. Other characters include Gil, a small-time thief, and Piper, a homeless hold-up man.

The author will take you on patrol, bring you along for a foot pursuit, then a vehicle pursuit. You will join him during an autopsy and be there as he investigates a suicide by hanging. If you think a story including incidents involving counterfeit cheeseburgers, privacy fence jumping heroics, toilet tumblers, poultry perpetrators, or characters such as a one-legged, basement-dwelling boyfriend of an exotic dancer sounds intriguing, this novel just might be for you.

About the Author
Don Deputy is a retired police officer who had to endure thirty-seven years in police work with an unusual name. Twenty-three of those years were served as a detective, seven of which as Captain in charge of the Investigations Division. Deputy was his department's Public Information Officer for twenty years, duties of which included communicating with, and being interviewed by, both the print and television news media. He has investigated everything from the theft of a hamburger to police action shootings. Deputy was honored as the Officer of the Year for his police department twice. Two incidents he investigated landed in the Indiana Supreme Court ending with favorable outcomes. One of his homicide investigations came to a successful conclusion after a short segment on the popular television show, America's Most Wanted.

Sign of the Seed is Don Deputy's first attempt at writing fiction, although a handful of criminal defense attorneys might argue that point.
