The subject of research was the semantics and functions of quotation marks in the modern Russian language. The emergence of new (optional) functions of quotation marks made it necessary to consider the mechanisms of figurative accentuation of words and word combinations. This book is the first attempt to analyze the semantics of words enclosed in quotation marks from the point of view of objective reality.
