Description

The comprehension of a text is the integration of the most salient units of meaning, which must be related and the essential ones hierarchized. The total meaning is a semantic complex formed by what is explicitly expressed, what is known by the reader and what is inferred, and in some texts a significant emotional charge. The first lines of a text indicate what attitude to assume, the speed and intensity with which it should be read and whether to pay attention to every detail or only to the dominant ideas. The process of reading, comprehension and analysis of texts should be treated methodologically from an interdisciplinary perspective in pursuit of the development of the reading competence of young university students.A study integrated by university extension activities and learning actions created from the reading and selection of books with themes related to the university profile is carried out, which allows the development of skills to understand and produce meanings and to put students in situations of interaction in real or imagined contexts, raising their reading levels.
