International lawyers, politicians and public figures constantly face the issues of regulation of interethnic and interstate relations in the world, including the problems of legalization of new states and development of common positions in connection with the activities of national movements fighting for their creation. The principle of equality of nations and the right of peoples to self-determination is applied in international legal practice and enshrined in the main UN documents. Meanwhile, at the present time, in the context of a general systemic crisis, the author believes that it is necessary to revisit this issue - from today's perspective, since the content of this principle is changing.
