Since his return to South Africa, with the fall of Apartheid, he has recast himself as an artist and focused on literary expression. To date he has published three books of poetry and a novel. Namane's background as a freedom fighter undergirds all his writing, infusing a spirit of optimism and hope about the future of his beloved Africa. He is otherwise trained as a cultural policy analyst and dabbles in jazz music as a trumpeter.
