Subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) is the most common diagnosis made in patients with chronic shoulder pain, accounting for 44-65% of all complaints of shoulder pain. SIS is a clinical diagnosis describing a multifactorial pathology applied to a condition whose main clinical symptoms are anterior or anterior-lateral superior shoulder pain, associated with restricted elevation of the arm or when attempting overhead activities.
