Description

The aim of this study was to establish the relationship between coping with stress and the variables sex, age, marital status, level of education, clinical diagnosis, clinical stage, type of treatment and social support in adult patients in the oncology service of the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital (HNGAI). With respect to the methodology, it is a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational, because it sought to relate the study variables; the sampling was consecutive non-probabilistic, consisting of 100 adult patients from the oncology service of the hospitalisation and external consultancy areas, with an average age of 18-80 years; in which the entire study population was chosen because it met the requirements of the research. Likewise, the Questionnaire of Coping with Stress in Oncology Patients - CAEPO by González (2004) and the Family and Friends Social Support Scale -AFA-R by Landero and Gonzáles (2008) were used for the survey.
