About the Author


Eleanor Ragaza Caldwell was born and educated in the Philippines. She has a law degree from the University of Santo Thomas in Manila. She married her first husband early in life while pursuing her degree. Her first marriage was short-lived. She lost her husband to death, leaving her with a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.

As a lawyer, the author's first job was with the agrarian reform movement of the government, at that time considered to be its cornerstone program. She worked for the Philippine Department of Agrarian Reform and wrote a book entitled, Our Land Reform, Its Legal Perspective which is the first book written on land reform written during the martial law regime, discussing the legal intricacies of the program.

The author moved on to the Philippine Department of Justice and became a criminal defense lawyer handling the defense of indigent accused.

She immigrated to the U.S. for family reunification and became a U.S. citizen. She then married her second husband, Kenneth Caldwell, born in England, but likewise, a U.S. citizen. They currently live in Centreville, Virginia.
