On This Day in Barangu: A Genealogical Calendar of Life Events presents the genealogy of a Garifuna (indigenous/Afro-descendant) community in southern Belize, Barranco (Barangu in the Garifuna language) in the form of a calendar. Each day has the genealogical events---births, marriages, death---that occurred on that day, as well as additional information about the Baranguna (people associated with Barranco) involved, such as, nicknames; their parents, spouses, children; past roles in the village; and how the person is related to someone living in the village now. The time-frame covers from the establishment of the village to the present. The calendar is illustrated with photographs and charts explaining multiple relationships between Baranguna. Three-generation charts from the beginning of each major last name allow Baranguna to find their ancestors. A complete index is included.
