Description
Flux compactification has given new insights into string theory during the last years. Besides its substantial contributions to the theory of moduli stabilization, it provides also mechanisms to break supersymmetry. From duality arguments it was known that the non-supersymmetric solutions of type II string theory should have counterparts in the heterotic string theory. However, no explicit construction was available. In this publication we close this gap and construct explicitly non-supersymmetric vacua of heterotic string theory. We furthermore try to analyze the strong coupling limit of these solution by lifting them to heterotic M-theory.
