But above all she refused to succumb to dangers and fears and became a member of the Polish resistance organization carrying guns, making investigations and eventually fighting in street battles during the 1944 Warsaw uprising. After many life's near escapes, border crossings and other dangerous escapades managed to reach eventually the American forces in Western Germany.
