About the Book
The Sao civilization flourished from the 6th century BC to as late as the 16th century in northern Central Africa. During that time there were also the Kanem Empire, Bornu Empire, Shilluk Kingdom, Baguirmi Kingdom and Wadai and Lunda Empires. By the 15th century in the Congo, the Bakongo people were unified in the Kingdom of Kongo under a ruler called the Manikongo. Duriing the late 19th century the French and British divided areas of central Africa between them at the Conference of Berlin.
