Description

A book of poetry in which each poem mentions the moon somewhere. The poems are in chronological order; the first is from 1968, the last from 2013. The book is divided into sections for time period and location: Teenage Time, India Beginning, Poona One, The Ranch, Poona Two and Travels, Missouri and Travels, England and Europe. For the author is an Osho sannyasin, and she sees her adventurous life as distinctly portioned in this way. (Osho was an enlightened mystic and meditation master, who left his body in 1990.) The premise of this book is that the moon can be anything at all; or nothing; a zero - it depends on the moment and the viewer. The moon can incite romance or madness; bliss or ignoration. So there are love poems, meditation poems, and all sorts of other songs and concatenations. And over it all, the phenomenon of Buddhahood shines silent and vaster than our understanding. The style of the book is accessible and spirited. The mundane and the sacred are not divided. The different periods of writing show different passions. Many poems have short introductions to help the reader enter them more easily. This book could be interesting to anyone who has ever been in love, ever meditated, ever appreciated the mystery of a full moon night. There are five line drawings included.
