Oscar Vladislas de Milosz was born in Lithuania in 1877 and died at Fontainebleau, Paris in 1939. He is the author of many works but is little known in the English-speaking world. He wrote drama, poetry, and prose. He treated subjects including philosophy, politics, archeology and biblical exegesis.
