Description
This book began as a writing assignment for a children's literature class, while the author, Christina Gomez, was completing her studies at the University of Arizona South. She was inspired to write the book about her brother, who had been suffering from a very persistent brain tumor. The book describes her brother's childhood love for animals, and particularly the bond he formed with a playful red mare, which he named "La Chapucera." Amazingly, the pony would actually play hide-and-seek with him. This book is a great example of friendship and demonstrates that our best friends don't necessarily have to be human.
