Sometimes this is the only source that may have that type of information. The reader is cautioned to note that all legal records for Georgetown County were destroyed by fire in 1865. These notices cover the counties of Georgetown District, viz. Georgetown, Horry, Marion, and Williamsburg. Also, notices are to be found from neighboring counties of Charleston, Darlington and Sumter.
