Malaria is an infectious disease that is spread by mosquitoes and affects humans and other animals. Common symptoms of malaria are tiredness, headaches, vomiting and fever. Malaria is caused by the micro-organisms of Plasmodium group and is most commonly spread by an infected female Anopheles mosquito. When an infected female Anopheles mosquito bites, it introduces the parasites into the person's blood from its saliva. There are five species of Plasmodium that can infect and spread by humans.
