"This stimulating book...is a major contribution to our knowledge of Neopalatial pottery, and anyone who wants to investigate this crucial period, which sees the passage from the final Minoan palatial stage to a new era oriented toward the mainland, should consult this book as a source of primary evidence as well as of much other useful information." -- Luca Girella, Uninettuno University of Rome, Bryn Mawr Classical Review (2013.05.08) This volume deals with the study of pottery from the final phase of the Neopalatial phase in Crete, called Late Minoan IB (LM IB). The contributors are excavators of Cretan sites with unpublished LM IB material. "LM IB pottery" has three broad goals: the publication of complete, stratified LM IB assemblages, the identification of local production and consumption patterns and related regional and off-island trade networks, and finally a review of the relative chronology for the latter half of LM I.
