Description

In his New Testament commentary series, John Stanko captures the essence of each verse, with plenty of questions and tips to not only help you understand the Word, but also to apply it to everyday life.

In this volume on the gospel of Mark, John looks at what perhaps could be called Peter's gospel, for Mark in all probability was the Apostle Peter's assistant and would have regularly heard Peter's accounts of Jesus' public ministry. Mark's account is the shortest of the four gospels, but his style hardly allow readers to catch their breath as he moves from one story to another without pause. Words like "astonished," "terrified," and "amazed" punctuate Mark's narrative, leaving no doubt that an encounter with the earthly Jesus was nothing short of spectacular and unnerving.
